1912

Deauville, the Cradle of the Group

Eugène Cornuché, Director of the Trouville Casino, initiates the construction of a new gaming te ... mple in Deauville. He thinks of everything and also builds a hotel to accommodate the players: Le Normandy. The inauguration of the casino in the summer of 1912 gathers 1,500 guests. The success is immediate. Deauville captivates, inspires, and the resort establishes itself as a model.

1927

François André, Founder of the Group, takes the helm of the Société des Hôtels et Casino de Deauville.

He succeeds Eugène Cornuché as the head of the Société des Hôtels et Casino de Deauville (SHCD).

1927

Inauguration of the Golf Hotel

François André envisions luxurious retreats for his clientele, where gaming competes with sports ... and festivities with relaxation: he initiates the construction of the Golf Hotel in Deauville, followed by the adjacent Golf course in 1929, in collaboration with architect Tom Simpson.

Mars1962

Lucien Barrière at the Helm of the Group

Lucien Barrière, who joined the family business in 1951, succeeds his uncle François André. He m ... odernizes the Group while maintaining the tradition and preserving the prestigious seaside resorts inherited from his uncle.

1975

1st Edition of the American Film Festival of Deauville

In Deauville, Lucien Barrière welcomes the biggest names in high society, including the legendar ... y couple Brigitte Bardot and Gunther Sachs. By contributing to the establishment of the Festival, he closely ties the Group to the seventh art.

1980

Establishment of the hotel company of the Lucien Barrière chain

To unify all the establishments he owns, Lucien Barrière creates the Société Hôtelière de la Cha ... îne Lucien Barrière (SHCLB) and brings together the hotels and the casino in La Baule.

1988

Arrival of the First Slot Machines in France

The first slot machines are installed in the Barrière casinos in Deauville and Cannes, among oth ... ers. Lucien Barrière passes away in September 1990, not having had the chance to witness the public’s enthusiasm for these machines.

1990

Diane Barrière succeeds her father.

Upon Lucien Barrière’s passing, Diane initiates significant renovation projects in the Group’s i ... conic hotels and begins a long collaboration with decorator Jacques Garcia. In doing so, she imparts an inimitable “Barrière” style to the family business. In 1995, she suffers a serious plane accident.

1997

Dominique Desseigne continues the family legacy.

Dominique Desseigne, the husband of Diane Barrière, co-directs the Group alongside her.

1998

Acquisition of the Fouquet’s Brasserie

Under the leadership of Diane Barrière and Dominique Desseigne, the SHCD acquires the iconic est ... ablishment on the Champs-Élysées.

1999

Establishment of the Barrière Foundation

Historically linked to the world of arts and culture, the Group innovates and enhances its suppo ... rt for contemporary creation “From the Page… to the Screen and the Stage.” The Foundation helps and promotes the writing of new talents each year in two major artistic disciplines: cinema and theater.

2001

Dominique Desseigne gives a new dimension to Barrière.

Following the death of his wife in 2001, he leads the Group toward a sustainable path of innovat ... ion, diversifying them, anticipating new trends, and initiating the first developments internationally.

2003

Opening of the First Casino Internationally

Opening of the first casino abroad, in Montreux, Switzerland. In 2008, it becomes the leading Sw ... iss casino in terms of Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR) total.

2006

Inauguration of the Hôtel Barrière Le Fouquet’s Paris

Dominique Desseigne fulfills his wife’s dream by opening a hotel on the Champs-Élysées.

2007

Establishment of the Casino Barrière Toulouse

This “state-of-the-art” casino offers a multi-leisure experience with gaming, several dining opt ... ions including a Fouquet’s, and a theater with 1,200 seats.

2009

Opening of the First Hotel Internationally

The Group exports its art of French living by opening the Hôtel & Ryads Barrière Le Naoura Marra ... kech, a hotel with 85 rooms and 17 ryads. This is the first hotel in Marrakech with ryads owned by private owners who can entrust the hotel with their rental management.

2010

A New Address in Lille

The first resort in France to bring together in one location a casino, restaurants, a 5-star hot ... el, a wellness area, meeting rooms, and a theater with 1,200 seats.

2012

The Group celebrates its 100th anniversary and opens the Barrière Ribeauvillé Resort.

Nestled at the foot of the Alsatian vineyard, Ribeauvillé Resort includes a casino, a 4-star hot ... el, a spa, and a 3,600 m² wellness center. The entire resort is designed with a focus on HQE (High Environmental Quality) and HPE (High Energy Performance) standards.

2015

Partnership between Le Fouquet’s and Pierre Gagnaire

The famous brasserie on the Champs-Élysées partners with the world’s best chef to revamp its men ... u. Its “brasserinomique” offerings are featured in the various Fouquet’s restaurants of Barrière.

2017

Opening of Two New Casinos Internationally

Barrière continues its international expansion strategy with the opening of two new casinos, one ... in Abidjan and the other in Cairo.

2020

Inauguration of Fouquet’s Abu Dhabi

The iconic Fouquet’s brasserie has opened its doors at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, bringing the essenc ... e of French brasserie culture to the United Arab Emirates. Known for its connections to the worlds of art, cinema, and culture, this new restaurant follows the culinary tradition of the most famous address on the Champs-Élysées: Fouquet’s Paris.
